This is insane... I understand more and more what the team means by if we can't add to something we don't make it kinda mentra. They are the best sweatpants I ever had. The various options are great so I finally had a sweatpants without 1-4 inches of my leg being naked... with the French terry interior, I know they won't shed and make these littles nubby things through time. They are awesome...
I purchased these sweatpants about two and a half years ago. I bought one pair. Then, after wearing it for a couple months, I bought a second pair. Both pairs have nearly identical wear patterns.
I wear these sweatpants almost daily, mostly for lounging, gaming, and doing chores around the house. I think it is reasonable to say that each pair has been worn around 350 days for 8-12 hrs each day. I don't wash them after every single wearing, typically I'll wash after 2-3. Conservatively, they've been washed about 125 times each. I machine wash them in cold water with the rest of my clothes and put them in a tumble dryer on medium heat.
First the praise: Basically every 5 star review is spot-on in terms of features and comfort. These are my daily lounge pants with good reason. Love the fit. Love the zippered pockets. Love thickness of the fabric. Love the style.
But how have they held up over two plus years? That is a bit of a mixed bag, unfortunately.
The black color has faded a bit from a deep black, but not to the point where you'd notice, unless by comparison with new clothes.
The metal drawstring tips are still solidly attached and in excellent condition. The drawstrings themselves have not broken or frayed, though they do have some permanent compression from the knots (I kept them tied in the wash). They have held up better than any drawstring or shoelace I've ever owned. The metal grommets have not pulled free. The black coating on the grommets has flaked off a bit, which is to be expected.
The elastic in the wastes and ankles is still stretchy. There is some abrasive wear along the rim of the waistline, but it is minimal. There is a bit more wear along the rim of the fabric at the ankles, but it has not come close to wearing through the material.
There is neither tearing nor 'pilling' in the crotch and thigh area of the garments (a miracle as far as I am concerned). In fact the seams in the pants have held together very well. I can't find any problems with the stitching anywhere on either pair of pants.
The side pockets are still firmly attached and both side zippers function like they are brand new. The stitching around the side zippers remains strong, and I want to specifically point out that the top and bottom of the side zippers are still solidly stitched to the fabric.
There is some noticeable abrasive wear where the fabric meets the zipper along the bottom side of each side pocket hole. On one pocket, this has worn the fabric rather threadbare, and may cause the zipper to separate in the future, though for now it seems fine.
On each pair of pants, the vinyl-like material that covers the back pocket zipper has started to peel along the edges. This wear is cosmetic, and does not affect the zipper's functionality. On one pair, the vinyl has rolled over, revealing the shinny side that that would normally be fabric-side down, this is more noticeable from a distance.
Up to this point, I would characterize the wear and tear as meeting or even exceeding expectations. But I've yet to describe the issue that inspired me to write this review.
The issue is that the fabric next to the seam along middle of the butt-side of the pants has worn through to the point where my undergarments are visible through the fabric.
At first, I thought this was a failed seam, but on closer inspection, that is not the case. The seam is intact. The damage is actually to the fabric just to the *left* of the seam on both pants.
What appears to have happened is that the seam, folded as it is on the inside of the rear, has lifted the fabric, creating a pressure-point for abrasion along the seam. Interestingly, the horizontal threads in the fabric are holding out, but the vertical threads have been nearly worn away.
Usually, when I buy pants, it is the butt or the crotch that fails first, typically from a popped seam, or the from the fabric just wearing thin. This is the first time I've seen an issue like this. The fact that it has happened to two separate pairs of sweatpants makes me think it is not a fluke.
I have honestly agonized over the star rating for this review. I don't expect any garment to last forever, and I do love these sweatpants. And I have gotten two and a half years of fairly hard use out of the two pairs I purchased.
Had it not been for the issue with the rear-seam, I would have given this a 5 star review. Because, considering how fast the rest of the wear is progressing, I could expect these to easily last years more. But when you get right down to it, these have lasted about as long as my last two sweatpants, which I bought at Walmart, for about half the price (Not counting shipping).
Were those Walmart pants as comfy? No. Did my wallet fall out of the pocket a bunch? Yes! I f**king hated that! Could I wear them grocery shopping and not feel like a slob? No. How long did they last before you could see my underwear? About three years.
Unfortunately long isn't really as long as I would like. Wish I had been able to get xl but it was sold out, and compared to most of the other LTT garments I got this one just seems very basic and lackluster on features and construction.
Very comfortable and soft
Great fit and flexibility
Very comfy, I ordered a little too long so it’s a bit baggy around the knees so just make sure you check out the size guide and don’t just yolo Love the zippered pockets and feel well made like everything else on ltt.
